Co-Relation between root resorption patterns of deciduous mandibular molars and position of erupting permanent successors: A radiographic evaluation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Purpose: The study was designed to investigate the relationship between root resorption patterns of deciduous mandibular molars and position of erupting permanent successors by a Radiographic Evaluation. Methods: A total of 250 radiographs of primary mandibular molars (126 first molars and 124 second molars) of 5to 12-year-old patients were evaluated. The root resorption pattern and the premolar location were observed. Results: Half of the teeth were primary first molars. In the primary first and second molar a majority of 80.2% of the root resorption occurred in the distal root and 55.6% of the root resorption was symmetrical respectively. Distal location of the premolar was the most commonly observed followed by central location of the premolar in primary first and second primary molar respectively. Conclusion: The position of premolar and presence of caries influences the root resorption pattern of the primary mandibular molars. The distal location of premolar was most commonly observed in primary 1st molar. Distal caries in a tooth when coupled with distally located premolar showed 99% distal root resorption

Benign Cementoblastoma Involving Deciduous and Permanent Mandibular Molars: A Case Report
Cementoblastomas are rare benign odontogenic tumors. Diagnosis of these lesions must be made by an association of clinical, radiographic, and histopathological findings. Cementoblastomas rarely occur in both primary and permanent dentitions. We describe the sixth case of cementoblastoma in the literature with the involvement of both deciduous and permanent teeth. The aim of this case report is ...
متن کاملAssociation between ectopic eruption of maxillary canines and first molars.
The purpose of this study was to elucidate a possible association between ectopic first molar eruption causing root resorption on the distal root of the primary maxillary second molar, and ectopic canine eruption causing root resorption on the permanent maxillary incisors. The subjects consisted of 30 patients, 22 females and eight males in the age range 8.3-15.0 years in whom root resorption o...

Introduction: Presence of external root resorption in second molars associated with impacted mandibular third molars was not rare. The neglect of this issue may leads to penetration of the pulp and loss of the second molars. The aim of this study was to investigate the incidence and risk factors affecting the external root resorption in second molars associated with mandibular impacted third mo...

Ectopic eruption is the abnormal eruption of a permanent tooth that often causes root resorption of an adjacent primary tooth which can be noted during routine dental radiographic evaluation. The mesial eruption of the permanent first molar may be a local eruption problem or may indicate developmental arch circumference deficiency requiring further consideration. Early treatment is mandatory to...
متن کاملComparing The Rate of External Apical Root Resorption During Orthodontic Treatment in Posterior Permanent Endodontically Treated and Vital Teeth
Background and Aim : One of the concerns about orthodontic treatment is the external apical root resorption(EARR).Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the rate of EARR in posterior permanent endodontically treated and vital teeth after orthodontic treatment. Materials and methods: This observational and retrospective study was performed on 112 roots in 28 patients in the age range o...
